New antenna - end to dropped readings?

The station has been missing a few readings lately. A quick check of the signal strength revealed why.
The RSSI was typically around -118dB and the SNR swinging from -3 to -8. The dropped signals were often when it was raining.
I suspect what was happening is that the a few trees had grown well in the past couple of years and the leaves (especially wet leaves) were messing with the signal.
Since the upgrade to LoRaWAN, I have been getting away with an old multi-frequency antenna meant for GSM. I have now installed a proper 3dB LoRa antenna and the results are excellent.
The RSSI is around -110dB and the SNR well into the positive, typically +8.
